Organic Chicken

Carrie Cerino’s has made a commitment to only buy and serve the best products possible. Our restaurant menu features only Nature’s Premier USDA Certified Organic chicken for all of our entrees. In other words, chicken that is:

  • Organic
  • Free-Range
  • Humanely Treated

Why? Because chickens raised under these optimum conditions produce the best tasting, highest quality meat possible.
It’s that simple.

Nature’s Premier Organic Company is:

Because when you eat organic chicken, you’re eating the best chicken money can buy - best in taste, nutritional value, and purity.

Our chickens receive:

  • NO genetically modified grains
  • NO animal or poultry by-products
  • NO antibiotics
  • NO growth stimulants
  • NO injections during processing
  • NO feed that has been grown with chemical fertilizers, pesticides,
    fungicides or herbicides

Which means that YOU are not ingesting any of those
substances when you consume organically raised chicken.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) considers many of these substances harmful to human health.
Now that’s food for thought!

What is “Organic”?

Organic food has been grown or raised without the use of chemicals, genetic modification or radiation. Organically raised chickens are given no antibiotics or growth stimulants and must be fed 100% organically grown feed.

In addition, the chickens must have easy access to fresh, clean water and to the outdoors for fresh air and sunshine. These procedures ensure the chickens’ health by reducing their stress and thereby reducing illness and the need for antibiotics.

These standards were established by the National Organics Standards Board (NOSB), which is a sub-group of the United States Agricultural Department (USDA).

In order to be certified organic, very specific rules must be followed regarding:

  • The type and quality of feed given
  • How the animals are raised
  • How they are slaughtered and processed.

Certification is granted by a USDA-approved certifier who inspects the farm and processing plant. They also review documentation to verify compliance with the established requirements.

The result?

When a product has been certified “organic”, you know you’re buying the purest, best quality food possible, free of unnecessary and potentially harmful chemicals.

“Organic” & “All Natural” – Aren’t They the Same?

Absolutely not!

Unlike “Organic”, the term “All Natural” is not a USDA-regulated term and therefore can mean just about anything.
Many companies may claim their “All Natural” chicken is antibiotic- and stimulant-free. They may also claim that they use high-quality feed or make some other claim that may lead the consumer to believe that “All Natural” is as good as “Organic”. However, without independent, third-party verification of these claims, there is no way to be certain. “USDA Organic” on the label means the product meets the requirements of, and is certified according to the NOSB standards.

Half the Fat!

Our chickens are raised on a specially formulated low-fat, high-protein organic feed that results in meat that is only 7% fat on average compared to around 15% fat for other chicken. Less fat in the chicken you eat, means less fat on YOU!

A Clear Conscience

You can enjoy our products knowing that our chickens have been raised and handled humanely throughout their life cycle.

In fact, Nature’s Premier Organic Chicken is certified by the American Humane Association as “Free Farmed”. This organization advocates the humane treatment of chickens and other farm animals. Its principles dictate that chickens be raised, handled and slaughtered in a humane fashion. Certification requires that our chickens have:

  • Easy access to both feed and water
  • Sufficient space to roam
  • Plenty of fresh air and natural sunlight
  • An enriched environment that provides proper stimulation
  • Safe and comfortable shelter, including emergency plans
    for possible power outages

So, when you buy Nature’s Premier Organic Chicken at Carrie Cerino’s, you can feel good knowing that along with buying the best-quality chicken available, you’re also supporting the humane treatment of animals.

Organic Chicken products are also available in our Party Center for an additional charge with 6 weeks advance notice. And, they are also available for our take out foods with a two week advance notice for an additional charge.
